In 1948, the story goes, Aztec had a visitor from very far out of town. In a book published in 1950 called “Behind the Flying Saucers”, the columnist Frank Scully claimed that in 1948 a UFO landed in Aztec New Mexico and 16 humanoid bodies were found dead inside. As a result of this, Aztec has hosted a UFO symposium every year since 1997.
Golf, fishing, hiking and 29 miles of local bike trails all help make Aztec an ideal destination for someone looking to bask in the bountiful sun of New Mexico. After a day of adventuring, go shopping down Aztec’s Historical Main Street and enjoy the many restaurants and amazing food.
